Welsh Terrier Health

Whilst some studies have suggested a genetic predisposition to glaucoma, if Welsh Terrier Health is well maintained and cared for, the Welsh Terrier can live to around 12 to 13 years without any major Health complications occurring.

To ensure that a Welsh Terrier lives a healthy life and the risk of any future Health implications is reduced, the breed should be fed a well- balanced, highly nutritious diet as well as receiving regular, daily exercise. Although an avid exerciser, the Welsh Terrier will not require a vigorous exercise regime, however they will flourish with daily exercise. Immensely enjoying swimming, Welsh Terriers love to dig and if possible, this exercise should be encouraged. Furthermore, whilst a brisk walk is fantastic exercise for the Welsh Terrier, it is recommended to have an area in which the Welsh Terrier can run freely off their leash, exercising solely or socialising with other dogs.

Even though the Welsh Terrier is a small dog breed, ensuring they have a correct diet and the appropriate exercise is the best way to keep a Welsh Terrier in great Health and maintain their predicted life expectancy.
