The Weimaraner breed of dog is classed as a medium to large breed of dog and was originally bred for hunting purposes. Energetic and with the ability to travel at great speed, the Weimaraner originates from Germany, making their way further west throughout the early to mid twentieth century.
The breed's appearance is not known to vary considerably. Weimaraner's are known for their short coat, which is grey in colour, with long ears, similar to its long, drawn face. With varying eye colours, from amber to grey, at the opposite end of the body, Weimaraner tails are approximately 6 inches in length.
Due the breed's high energy levels, the Weimaraner requires lots of exercise and should be given access to large areas of greenery where they are allowed to run freely. However, all Weimaraner owners must be cautious of over exercising the dog, as hip dysplasia is an occasional problem in Weimaraner.
A great family pet, the Weimaraner should is very protective of its family and should therefore be well trained in obedience training from a young age. The Weimaraner enjoys being trained immensely, meaning obedience training is not so much of a chore as a favourable pastime for many Weimaraner owners.
