Dog Names

Finding the right name for your dog can be a difficult task. There are many things that come into play. You want to be original, you want a short name to call him quickly, you want to be imaginative, and you want a name to represent your dog’s attitude.

In order to give your dog a descent name, you should look at many different aspects. There are plenty of name and many of the dogs end up being called doggie or just: hey, you. Why is this so? The main reason why this happens is that owners think of a too complicated name for their dogs and then they realize it was too far fetched or too complicated.

In some other cases, people name a Yorkshire Terrier, a minute dog, Alexander the Great. I am sure you appreciate the irony, but those too fancy names do not seem to fit dogs at all. There is more to a dog than just its name. So, if you think about a name it should be something that reflects his personality and his habits.

For theses reasons, naming a very energetic dog Homer, would not sound so right. On the other hand, naming your lazy, sleepy dog Maximus, would also sound rather strange.

It is also important to consider your dog’s attitude when it comes to visitors or strangers. For example, if he is too shy or timid, naming him Gladiator would sound rather silly. Lady or similar names would sound to sissy for aggressive dogs.

There is a famous list of dog names. Let’s take a look at some of the most important ones:
