Of Asian descent, the Shiba Inu breed is without any doubt a spectacular dog that will always change your life for good. This impressive dog features a majestic bearing like few dog breeds can proceed to do and this is why a Shiba Inu dog can easily become a marvelous lifetime companion and friend. In terms of its history, experts can not clearly determine if this dog comes from Japan or China since it has been alongside humans for thousands of years. They were traditionally used as wonderful hunters, activity they fulfilled quite well due to their strenght, perseverane and agility. They were also great tracking, guarding and watchdogs. This breed currently counts with the recognition of all the major dog associations except for the UKC.

The appearance of the beautiful Shiba Inu is mostly determined by its muscular and compact body. Its regular measurements are 14 to 16 inches of height and 18 to 25 pounds of weight. It has a square shaped body with rather short but strong legs. Its neck is wide and powerful as so is its muzzle. The head of the Shiba Inu is broad and the ears appear to be really small in proportion. They are V shaped and naturally erected. The eyes are round, large and dark with an interesting expression. Finally, the coat of the Shiba Inu is also really gorgeous: it is short and tight to the body, soft to the touch and available in different colors. It covers the entire body of the animal.

The Shiba Inu is also unique in terms of its temperament. We are talking about a dog that bears a brave and fearless image but that is actually a sweet and loving animal. They are completely devoted to their masters and love their permanent company. They are actually quite corageous animals that stand out for their determination to protect their family against any possible danger. These dogs sometimes appear to be shy but not when it comes to showing off their eternal love for their family. As most large dogs, the Shiba Inu requires a firm leader to follow and to make every situation as pleasant as possible. They are great with children and show a patient temperament towards other animals. Also, they are really intelligent dogs that are easily trainable if this process takes place when the dog is still a puppy.

Unlike most dogs of its size, the Shiba Inu can do great inside an apartment but this is only like this if you make sure to provide this majestic dog with all the proper exercise. They need permanent daily walks and other activities in order to be healthy, fit (avoiding overweight) and also mentally stable. They do not enjoy being left alone and can easily become destructive and aggressive. The Shiba Inu is really healthy and some common health complications are treatable if prevented. Life expectancy for these dogs is usually of 12 to 15 years and this clearly depends on the quality of life you provide it with.
