As a general rule, a Samoyed Hair cut should be a very minimal one at most. This breed of dog has sensitive skin to harsh weather conditions and its thick coat protects it from the harsh sun in the summer to the cold, icy air throughout the winter.
On occasion, Samoyed's require a drastic Hair cut due to one of many medical conditions. Unless the owner is skilled and well practiced with dog grooming, including clipping, this should be left to a professional.
To keep your Samoyed's coat in the best possible condition, regular grooming sessions are necessary. The Samoyed is a breed of dog that doesn't particularly take well to being groomed, so extra care and attention must be taken. Many owners prefer to make the grooming sessions a type of game, training their Samoyed to lie still for 5 minutes whilst they are groomed then allowing them to run around for 5 minutes. The Samoyed will then return and this will be repeated until the grooming process is complete.
The Samoyed breed of dog is renowned for its glowing white coat and bushy appearance. Protecting it from a variety of weather conditions, regular grooming and trimming of the coat where necessary should ensure no major or unnecessary Hair Cuts are required.
