The Salukis are a fascinating breed of dog. Beautiful and a natural born hunter, as the Salukis are an extremely health breed, Saluki Care requirements, in terms of health problems, are very minimal.
Salukis are cited as one of the earliest breeds of domestic dog. Due to this extensive breeding, almost all major health conditions have been eradicated. The only remaining known problem that requires extra Care and attention is the Salukis minor intolerance to surgical anaesthetic. As anaesthetic relies heavily upon the patient's body fat levels and with Salukis being notoriously lean, there is occasionally some sensitivity occurring.
In respect of the Salukis coat and grooming regime, they once again require minimal Care. As a medium shedding dog, a simple routine of coat brushing twice a week will ensure the Salukis appearance stays at the best possible level.
Overall, the Salukis are a considerably low maintenance dog. No special requirements are needed in regards to health Care or grooming and as long as they receive regular exercise with a well-balanced diet, the Salukis will remain a healthy, low maintenance dog.
