Oh! Aren’t you cute? Don’t bark and let me take a picture of you, Bernie. Yes, they are definitely cute. But do not overreact. Think how a person would look like disguised as a pumpkin.

Media shows ads which are starred by charming puppies playing with soft toilet paper, and then sleeping on it, and finally wrapping themselves with it.

They have a house and dishes. They follow a diet, and go to the doctor. They grow older and have illnesses. They live in apartments, houses, mansions. Do you think these sentences refer to people? Well, actually, they are all applicable to both pets and people. As a cultural phenomenon, pets –especially dogs- have he same life style of their owners. And this is obvious.

First of all, the owner gets to love them so much that it becomes inevitable to make them part of the family. Dogs are friendly, funny and loyal. They learn tricks to make the master happy, and they do react to any stimulus. They seem to behave as children, so why not to treat them like that.

In addition to this, psychologists say that dogs are the cure to lone people. With the passing of time, more and more professionals include animals in medical treatments. It seems like dogs have jobs. They are house guardians. They are guides for blind people. They work in police stations as either drug hunters or as part of the rescue team. So, if police officers do have a uniform, then dogs should have theirs.

In spite of being really cute in costumes, dogs are not puppets. It is embarrassing to see a rottweiler dressed up as a sheep, or as a princess. Maybe at first it seems funny in some cases. But on the other hand, there are many pieces of cloths that make them feel uncomfortable. Several costumes are made of itchy fabrics, harsh textures, tight and hot materials.

To conclude, dogs are family and definitely pretty in costumes. But it is very worthy to think about their suffering before trying to make fun of them. Love goes along with respect. Let’s step into their shoes. They do so much for people, let’s do at least this little for them
