Puppy Care

Having a puppy at home is definitely one of the most adorable things to experience. But puppies are as delicate as babies and they deserve the best and most responsible caring and love. As much as we do worry about how to raise our children, we are allowed too to worry about the correct breeding of our puppies.

If you take into account that whatever you teach (or don’t teach) your puppy will last through all of his life and you will be sure that he will always behave in the way you taught him to. But puppies are not only teaching and learning: for them to be obedient, respectful of their owners and loyal to us, we need to give them constant attention, love and affection and this is because if we do so our puppy will look up to us as he does with nobody else.

One of the first things in the puppy care process is the pet should be at least eight weeks old because it is just after this time when vaccinations are allowed to be given to them and if you get one before that period of time you will be risking of having a weak or ill dog at home.

When you take your new puppy home, some of the most relevant things you need to remark to him are related to places, feeding schedules and other activities. In this sense, is would be highly recommendable for you to have prepared a mat, cushion, pillow or cage for your doggie that will, hopefully, be his for now on. By doing so you will get him used to having a place of his entire own and will avoid any impulse or instinct to go into forbidden or unwanted places such as your bed, the sofa, the kitchen, the baby’s room, etc. This should be marked as soon as possible and in this sense you can be sure that animals learn really fast these things. To make him go at the right place, you should provide him with a special place that has his own odor so that he can be able to recognize it and go directly to the selected place and not other. Remember to socialize them with other animals or babies at an early age, but do this in a progressive way to avoid any complications.

When it comes to feeding your puppy, it is very important for you to set some sort of schedule and rules. Try to make him accustomed to specific hours of the day and to his own bowls. Puppy’s nutrition is of great relevance and in this way you should avoid feeding your puppy with human food because it can be heavy for them. The pet market has lots of options especially made for puppies and recently born dogs.

Finally, guaranteeing your puppy with a good and responsible health treatment is essential to allow him to have a healthy life, with no unexpected situations or complications. You should choose a good veterinarian and remember that your dog can also visit the vet when he is in perfect shape, only to make general tests.

If you take these basic recommendations into account your dog will surely grow into a happy, healthy and energetic dog and you will be absolutely in love with him. We hope you enjoy this article about puppy care
