Dog ParkThere are not many things a dog enjoys more than sprinting along the park as if he were off-leash, free. Of course, you could just take your dog to a common park, but why would you do this when you have the opportunity of taking your friend to private dog parks, designed for his needs? These are called off-leash areas. Here, dogs can run freely, play with other canine friends, go to the toilet and they even have drinking fountains. Of course, many common parks have now built this similar type of area inside the park. These areas were built so as not to disturb people without dogs that ordinarily went to the park to enjoy some free air and didn’t want to share tree, for example, with dogs. Nearly every city has this type of area built or in process. Many cities have incorporated these ideas into their legislation processes, so for further information contact your city town office or mayor. Of course, these areas also present some problems. The first problem was that these locations should be bigger enough to provide dogs and their owners with the essential space needed. So, not any piece of land is good to build them. Areas should be big, ideally with abundant trees and grass to make it attractive and to look clean. They should also be away from traffic areas, so accidents will be avoided in this case. Secondly, this unleashing of dogs may end up by de-socializing them, turning them into fighting other animals, they may often turn aggressive or try to defend their territory from other dogs. So you may want to be careful when considering this possibility. Another issue when considering off-leash areas is the question of cleanness and hygiene. Many of these areas are not sterilized and so taking your dog there would be hazardous for him as it would be for you and your family. Dogs can easily catch diseases and transmit these to the human beings living with them. What is worse is that they can get injuries for fighting other dogs and so also get infected. |
