Pomeranians are definitely among the cutest and most delicate small dog breeds. These adorable little creatures are native from the German region from which they take their name: Pomerania. They were originally bred to become company dogs for the upper classes and have traditionally been related to several important rulers and nobility people such as for example Marie Antoinette and Queen Victoria. Of course, this breed is recognized by the AKC, the CKC, the KCGB and the UKC.
In terms of its appearance, the Pomeranian could be described as a small and fluffy dog that displays an abundant but not thick coat. This coat covers the entire body of the animal and becomes especially important around the neck and the tail. It can be found in several solid colors although cream and orange tones are commoner than others.
The temperament of the Pomeranian is that of an active, happy and lively dog that enjoys human company. They are loyal dogs and ideal for families since they display a deep affection and docile attitute towards kids. Still, they require a firm training and leadership. Thanks to its size, the Pomeranian is a great dog for an apartment and even though it requires quite a lot of exercise, it will adapt itself perfectly to rather small spaces.
