The Pomeranian's History
One of the most interesting things about the Pomeranian dog is its unique and colorful History. This fabulous breed could not have a simple history and this is why these dogs have always been related to nobility and high life status. Just like it name says it, the Pomeranian is native from the German region of Pomerania, located nowadays on the north of the country and shared in terms of politics with Poland.
Even though there are no specific dates on when did this breed began, experts suggest that the current specimens are direct descendants from old Spitz breeds that were used as companions.
Thanks to its small size, its cuteness and its unique and elegant bearing the Pomeranian has always been bred as a toy dog that used to belong to important historical figures and aristocrats.
Later on, this breed was exported to different parts of Europe, especially England where it became one of the favorites of the Queen Victoria. Through selective breedings that were meant to make its specific elements stand out, the Pomeranian acquired its current size, its current coat tones and its current shape. These improvements have to do with the interest of making this breed a much more hardier and healthier dog that could live much longer.
Standar Pomeranian's size and Weight
Coming under the small dog breed category, Pomeranian's size, unlike other breeds, does not vary between sexes. A standard Pomeranian will be on average 8 to 11 inches tall at their shoulder and weigh between 3 and 7 pounds approximately.
Even though the Pomeranian is a small breed of dog, they are an energetic breed and require regular exercise. This regular exercise is a great way to ensure that the Pomeranian reaches its maximum height, as well as keeping the Pomeranian in great shape and helping the dog's muscles and bones to develop in a healthy and natural way.

Types of Colors of Pomeranians
The Pomeranian will always be one of the most beautiful and most easily distinctive small dog breeds of all. These dogs feature a fabulous coat made of abundant and soft hair that gives the animals a truly unique and gorgeous look. In order to make sure that a Pomeranian is a purebred dog, you can recurr to the accepted color list in which you will find which tones are recognized as pure and which color faults exist in many specimens. Pomeranian Colors are varied and this may sometimes lead to confusions but there are some basic details you need to take into account.
The usual Pomeranian Colors are really diverse if you compare this breed to some other small dog breeds. This does not mean of course that any type of color will be accepted. Normally, experts suggest that most solid Colors are considered pure but the most popular and common ones are red, orange, white, cream, sable and black.
These Colors should not show any sign of other color or any small marking because that will not be accepted by the American Kennel Club. There are other solid Colors that are not as popular but that are also considered as pure: brown, blue, tan, wolf sable and brindle.
There is also a specific color which is known as parti and that is basically made of a white base with color markings. These markings should be evenly presented through the entire surface of the animal and not casually available on some of them.
Temperament
There are several few key points to consider regarding Pomeranian's temperament before taking a Pomeranian into a home.
They are extremely intelligent dog, they are eager to learn and are very loyal to their owner and the family that they live with.
As one of the most independent of the toy dog breeds, Pomeranians do not follow to their owner around on a constant basis and to an inexperienced owner can be considered an unsociable and rude dog.
Proud and content dogs when with their loved ones, they are more than happy to spend the day alone whilst their owner is at work.
The Pomeranians also possess a selection of negative characteristics. The most notable being their inability to feel comfortable with their position in the family. If a Pomeranian feels another household pet receives more attention and is considered 'Head of the House', they will contemplate attacking the pet, regardless of their size.
Furthermore, as independent dogs, Pomeranians can be disobedient if not trained correctly and therefore a firm hand, with no signs of nervousness, is required to train a Pomeranian effectively.
Behaviour
Pomeranians are typically very friendly, playful and active dogs. The breed is very protective of their owners and loves to be around them; however Pomeranian Behavior can be aggressive to any strangers who appear to cause a threat to their owner.
Intelligent and easily housebroken, Pomeranians socialise well with others, regardless of whether they are a dog, other animal or human.
Although many believe the Pomeranian to be a lap dog (primarily due to their size), the breed typically does not like to be held for any extended period of time. However, due to their loyalty, they will lay contently at their owner's feet for hours, as long as they are not petted.
Due to their size and individualism, Pomeranians should not be allowed to run freely in open public spaces and only allowed this luxury in enclosed gardens.
It is important to introduce children to a Pomeranian whilst they are still a puppy, to ensure the Pomeranian does not feel threatened. As with other animals that they feel threatened by, a Pomeranian will contemplate aggressive behaviour towards children who are posing a threat, regardless of whether it is intentional or not.

You can find them in lots of different flavors as well as in both dry and wet presentations.

You need to include a large amount of high quality meat in order to provide your Pomeranian with the needed protein to be healthy and energetic.
