Pomeranian Behaviour
Pomeranians are typically very friendly, playful and active dogs. The breed is very protective of their owners and loves to be around them; however Pomeranian Behavior can be aggressive to any strangers who appear to cause a threat to their owner.
Intelligent and easily housebroken, Pomeranians socialise well with others, regardless of whether they are a dog, other animal or human.
Although many believe the Pomeranian to be a lap dog (primarily due to their size), the breed typically does not like to be held for any extended period of time. However, due to their loyalty, they will lay contently at their owner's feet for hours, as long as they are not petted.
Due to their size and individualism, Pomeranians should not be allowed to run freely in open public spaces and only allowed this luxury in enclosed gardens.
It is important to introduce children to a Pomeranian whilst they are still a puppy, to ensure the Pomeranian does not feel threatened. As with other animals that they feel threatened by, a Pomeranian will contemplate aggressive behaviour towards children who are posing a threat, regardless of whether it is intentional or not.
