Peter Pan characters are part of a novel created by J. M. Barrie at the beginnings of the twentieth century, in which this little boy was the protagonist. The novel told the story of a boy who lived in Neverland, a place where people did not get older with time and where there was only room for fun and entertainment. In this place is where he spends all day long as a never ending childhood, and where he takes Wendy and all her brothers to in the search for new companions in that magic world.
But Peter Pan is not like any other boy: apart from living in a fantasy world, where he never gets old or where he never has to go to school or do any activity that any regular kid would do, Peter Pan has some abilities that are supernatural among which we can find these ones: the ability to fly, ability to imagine whatever he wants and make it come true, and the ability to perform an excellent mimicry. Peter Pan has also been described to be a fearless boy that is somewhat unconscious of the dangers that threaten him. He faces them with a cocky and always positive attitude that can put him in trouble from time to time. He is also quite fond of himself and therefore believes that nothing wrong can really happen to him.
One of his most important enemies is Captain Hook, an evil pirate that lost his hand in an incident in which Peter Pan chopped it off and fed it to a Crocodile that has been following the Captain ever since. In his search for new companions, Peter Pan is driven to Wendy’s home and there he founds a bunch of kids that are to be taken to his fantasy world in which he will teach them how to fly and how to be happy as eternal kids.
However kids need to go back to the real world and there the conflict will be set, since all of them want to stay in the fun Neverland but realize that they can not stay there forever. Here we find a nice message that tells every kid about responsibilities and that through imagination we can be taken wherever we want, even though we stay physically in the same place.
Peter Pan has become utterly famous due to the numerous movies in which this story has been portrayed, and among these we must mention the Disney version of 1953, perhaps the one that made the story reach every child’s heart. It has been ever since one of the most loved and popular characters among kids and young people.
