The Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed is part of the herding group. These dogs have been traditionally bred as marvelous helpers in the country of Wales, where they were also considered the same breed as the Cardigan Welsh Corgi breed until recently. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are devoted dogs that will always become fabulous companions in many different activities and situations. This breed is officially recognized by the top dog associations.
Usual measures for the Pembroke Welsh Corgi are 10 to 12 inches tall and 25 to 30 pounds of weight, becoming therefore quite small and cute animals. Having a body that is longer than taller, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi has a beautiful and truly expressive triangular face with V shaped ears which are usually carried erected. They also have dark and round eyes, and a dark nose as well. As for its coat, it is short and smooth, covering the entire body of the animal. It is regularly available in red, sable, fawn and black and white colors.
As most herding dogs, the Pembroke Welsh Corgis are lively and almost funny dogs that enjoy having lots of activities and exercises. They are also quite intelligent and will make of the training a really enjoyable experience. Plus, they are really affectionate and loyal dogs that will always be ready to stand up in your name.
