The TV station was formerly known as The Pimwheel Network and was launched in the year of 1979, but after a couple of years it was renamed to Nickelodeon and has maintained that name ever since. Through the years it has developed sister channels and has expanded to different parts of the world where a regional channel was founded. This is the case of countries and regions like Japan, Australia, The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Scandinavia, South East Asia, Latin America, and Western Europe.
It is unbelievable to see how many successful TV shows this channel has released and many of them even expanded from the TV format out to movies, video games, music and lots of other spaces. Some of the most popular and successful TV programs of Nickelodeon were Sponge Bob Squarepants, Rugrats, Garfield Beetlejuice, Doug, Inspector Gadget, or The Wild Thornberrys.
Nickelodeon characters have definitely been established as one of the children’s favorite option when it comes to watching TV and this is shown in the rankings that Nickelodeon’s shows have.
