Both favoured as family dogs and guard dogs down to the Neapolitan Mastiff's Size, they bear a resemblance to their other Mastiff cousins, but in appearance only. Unlike their closely related Pit Bull Mastiff relatives, the Neapolitan Mastiffs are one of the most friendly and loving dogs not only in the Mastiff breed but in the whole dog world. The Size of the Neapolitan Mastiff dog can be somewhat intimidating to those who haven't been in close proximity of a Neapolitan Mastiff before. The average height Size of a male Neapolitan Mastiff is 30 inches at the shoulder, with the female Neapolitan Mastiff's coming in at approximately 28 inches. Perfectly matching their height, the Neapolitan Mastiff's weight of between 140lbs and 150lbs adds to their intimidating frame, especially considering that it is not unusual for a Neapolitan Mastiff to weigh up to 200lbs. It is important to keep Neapolitan Mastiff's weight at a healthy level and from a young age, they must be fed an appropriate diet and exercised regularly to encourage the best growth but in weight, height and length. Of course, due to the Size and growth rate of the Neapolitan Mastiff, food bills from an early age can be costly, with most Neapolitan Mastiff's easily eating their way through 60lbs worth of food each month.
