We are referring to Napoleon Dynamite, seeing the world through the lens of a paper and a pencil. If you are interested in getting to know what this movie is about, we invite you to join us here because a couple of lines below you will find this film’s most interesting and important information. So come with us and start imagining!
Napoleon Dynamite has been released in the year of 2004 and has been directed by Jared Hess. It is set on the city of Preston, Idaho, and it tells the story of a nerdish and somewhat goofy character, Napoleon James Dynamite and his equally goofy life, with his alienated friends and bizarre family. There are many subplots in the movie, for example the one that shows that Napoleon is set out to help his friend to become Boy President of the school.
Another one centers on the life of Napoleon’s brother, Kip, who is also a geek but 32 years old and with a passion to meet girls on chat rooms. The general idea of this movie is to expose the lives of those who are never considered to be protagonists of any story: nerds and geeks. In terms of time space, the interesting thing about the movie is that it is set in the present day, but clothes and many details that have been especially thought makes us think that the story could be set on the eighties.
It is believed that every character in this story goes under some transformation, and here the important thing to say about Napoleon is that he never really succeeds in fitting in in the spaces he lives in (both at home and at school he is despised and neglected).
As it would happen with any other regular movie in which the nerd changes in a positive way and is finally accepted among popular people, in this film the idea is that Napoleon has hidden abilities (that of drawing) that allow him to win the ones who despise him over and start being appreciated. With a soundtrack full of famous artists such as The White Stripes, Jamiroquai, Shreyl Crow, The Backstreet Boys, and Cindi Lauper, Napoleon Dynamite has become a popular film among young people.
The film is a nice and valuable story, with many references to cultural diversity, and it has received many good critics from viewers that loved the story and the development of the characters.
