Labrador Retriever Ears

One of the most intelligent breeds of dog, the Labrador Retriever is used all over the world as a rescue dog. Being able to aid people on both land and at sea, the Labrador Retriever must be kept in the best possible condition to ensure health conditions they are prone to, such as infections in the Labrador Retriever's Ears, do not occur.

Reducing the risk of an ear infection in a Labrador Retriever is relatively simple. A daily routine should take place, lasting only moments, where the owner checks inside the ear for any obvious signs of infection. The symptoms that are generally apparent when and ear infection has occurred are redness, dry skin or discharge in the outer ear. Unless the owner is highly skilled and experienced in this field, the Labrador Retriever should be taken to a vet for prescription ear drops.

As ear infections do not always carry any visible symptoms, it is important to be vigilant to any changes in a Labrador Retriever's behaviour, If they are shaking their head regularly, rubbing their Ears across the floor or appear to be generally unsettled, they may have an ear infection further down the ear canal.
