One of the United Kingdom's most popular dogs, the Labrador Retriever's size and temperament make them an ideal dog for competing in Labrador Retriever Agility competitions.
Standing at approximately 22 inches tall at the withers, their ideal body weight should be in the region of 65 pounds to ensure they remain as agile as possible. Some weight gain or loss of 10 pounds is acceptable; however it is important to remember that Labrador Retrievers are renowned at having an extremely unfussy diet. Eating anything that they can, they can easily become overfed and overweight, therefore making it paramount that a Labrador Retriever's diet is closely monitored. However, it is often recognised that Retriever Labradors manage to find and eat food that isn't made available to them, generally behind their owner's back. Due to this, a regular exercise regime, alongside careful monitoring of their diet, is highly recommended.
With their fun nature and energetic enthusiasm, Labrador Retrievers are very easy to train. Regardless of the task, whether retrieving a ball or maneuvering effectively around an obstacle course, it is very rare to find a Labrador Retriever that cannot be taught these tasks within a short period of time.
