The Keeshonden is a medium size breed of dog that has a very fluffy Coat. The Keeshonden Coat is one of the most recognisable features of this breed of dog and is both liked and disliked by dog owners and lovers. Due to the type of Coat the Keeshonden has, extensive grooming is needed to maintain the fluffy look as well as the Coats health. Furthermore, the Keeshonden breed is a seasonally heavy shedder.
When grooming the Keeshonden's Coat, owners must make sure that they have the correct brushes before starting. Having the correct tools and accessories is vital to the grooming process as the Coat is very delicate and the wrong type of brush can simply rip out the hair of the Coat or pull, tangle and matt the Coat. Furthermore, when the Keeshonden are shedding, owners should groom the dog at least once a day to ensure that any loose hair that may be simply sat on top of the Coat is removed. If left, this loose hair can cause distress to the dog, making them become unnecessarily agitated.
