Irish Setter Care

Fantastic family dogs, the Irish Setter's have an enthusiastic and loving attitude towards everyone they meet. Known as a very healthy dog, Irish Setter Care in respect of health problems can be fairly relaxed compared to that of many other breeds of dog, often making them a great first dog.

Irish Setter's origins are that of a gundog, meaning they are an extremely active breed. Daily exercise is required, ideally consisting of a long walk, with a period of open activity where they are allowed to run freely.

To ensure your Irish Setter receives the best possible Care, a diet based primarily on meat is required. Protein and fat should be of moderate quantities, whilst the Irish Setter doesn't require a great deal of fibre, so only a nominal amount is required in their diet.

Taking Care of your Irish Setter's coat, like all other aspects of the Irish Setter, is simple and straight forward. A daily brushing of their coat should be carried out and their nails should be clipped approximately twice a month. As medium shedders of their coat, the Irish Setter will only need to be bathed on a sporadic basis.
