Whenever we thought that making a movie about aquatic life was impossible, then Pixar did Finding Nemo and proved ourselves wrong. And not only that, it also proved us that apart from being doable, it can have great and beautiful results. If you saw Finding Nemo you probably have seen the accuracy with which aquatic life and nature was portrayed and it is quite interesting to see that many things can be learnt from this movie.

Finding Nemo is the story of a clownfish father that goes in a quest to find his son, Nemo, that has been chased by human beings and put into a fish bowl, in a place far away from home. This clownfish has already lost his partner in life and mother to the little Nemo and has therefore always lived with extreme fear towards hypothetical menaces. In this quest he finds the good company of a lovely but sometimes troublesome blue fish that has memory issues and tends to forget and confuse everything that has happened. But they are not the only ones: in the search for Nemo they find lots of amazing creatures that will help them or cause more problems to them but that in the end help us know better what is life under water. Through this journey, Nemo’s father will also learn that he has been overprotective throughout his son’s short life and that that situation may have been determinant in what happened with his son.

On the other hand, the story portrays the new life of Nemo as well, the little clownfish that in his wishes to prove his father that he is capable of being left alone has paradoxically been chased to decorate the office of an unknown dentist. There he meets some other exotic fishes and aquatic animals that will help him to escape and that will also teach him the values of communal living, but he will also find that living in a fishbowl is something that any fish would not enjoy and that life around human beings may become dangerous from time to time even though their good intentions.

This fantastic movie is a great option to learn your children lots of important values such as responsibility, commitment, friendship, environment protection, paternal love, family, being able to recognize dangers and many others. The aquatic setting that is seen in this movie is absolutely amazing and it is hard to believe sometimes that what we see in the big screen is only animation. Colors, textures, movement, shinning and harmony are seen from the beginning to the end, along with lots of other things that complete the scene such as particles of dust in the water, lights, reflection of lights, and this is one of the things that will surely catch your children’s attention and will keep them glued to the story until it ends.
