Famous Dogs

We may start talking about famous dog movies comedies or children’s movies since they are the most common ones. Walt Disney has made some of the most famous cartoon movies and in this sense, we should mention examples like 101 Dalmatians or The lady and the tramp. In the first one the story takes us through the adventures that a very numerous Dalmatian family get into in order to escape from an evil and unscrupulous woman (Cruella Deville being her name) who wants to convert them into a fashionable fur coat.

This movie has also been done with real actors and it becomes interesting to watch real and beautiful dogs act in front of a camera. In the second one, we find two adorable dogs which fall in love with each other without caring for “social” classes or levels (for the dog’s society, that is!) and must fight against the bad intentions of two refined and malicious Siamese cats.

Both of these movies are great to see with children and may allow you to talk about important subjects such as animal protection or social discrimination with them. Another lovely cartoon movie is the famous All dogs go to heaven, which is good to see with your children to learn about emotions and faith.

Comedies with dogs are truly abundant and in this way perhaps one of the most famous ones has been Beethoven, the movie that shows the life of a regular American family with a troublesome but tender Saint Bernard.

This film has had a couple of sequels due to its success. Dumb and Dumber is another classic comedy and, even though it’s not exactly about dogs, one of the characters (the one played by Jeff Daniels) works as a dog hairdresser and has some scenes quite funny. Another classic movie with a dog is K-9, the one in which James Belushi plays the role of a policeman that has to get used to working with a German Shepherd as a companion.

In terms of terror or suspense, we may offer movies such as Cujo, or Pet Cemetery. In both of them you will have to deal with fiery dogs and animals that threaten their owner’s life.
