Drahthaar Characteristic

The Drahthaar is a medium sized breed of dog with a very strong and muscular body. The height and weight Drahthaar Characteristics depend on the dog's sex. On average, the male Drahthaar measures between 24 and 26 inches in height at the withers, whilst the female Drahthaar measures on average between 22 and 25 inches. The weight of both sexes tends to fall in between 60 to 70 pounds. The Drahthaar body is square and their legs are very strong, straight and angled perfectly for long strides. They have great endurance and a very powerful thrust.

Depending upon the size of the Drahthaar, the head can be broad to medium- broad and their ears are usually high set upon their head. The breed's muzzles are medium to long in length and medium to medium-broad in width. With the Drahthaar's teeth being very strong, they aid them in games such as holding and retrieving because of the scissors bite form that they take. The dog's tail is docked to approximately two fifths of the actual full length to avoid any hunting related injuries.
