In general speaking terms, medium breeds of dog are often the most responsive to training. Especially when training is carried out from an early age, the more standard size dogs can learn commands and tricks far quicker than other small or larger breeds of dog.
The most common dog training for medium breeds of dog that is carried out is the obedience training. Many people who adopt older dogs do not often appreciate the amount of time that has been taken in the past to teach the dogs the most basic of commands.
A prime example is the sit and come command. Although it may seem a simple task to carry out – having a dog sit when told and then return to their owner – it can take weeks of careful and precise training to ensure that the dog is aware of exactly how to react when told to both sit and come.
