Descending from the historical area of Dalmatia in Croatia, the Dalmatian's Personality and temperament is one of high energy, loving and dedication.
Dalmatian's are often said to be similar in Personality to a young child, with boundless energy and an interest in everything they come into contact with. This may seem a great Personality trait when the Dalmatian is a puppy, but if this energy isn't channeled regularly or the Dalmatian isn't exercised heavily on a daily basis, they can become unruly and disobedient towards their owner.
The Dalmatian's endless energy can sometimes be too much for a large amount of owners, even when the Dalmatian is trained properly. Running around continually for the first few years of their life, they occasionally become over excited and knock over objects or small children unintentionally.
Traditionally loving dogs, once the Dalmatian has settled fully into their new home, their affectionate side should be more apparent. Kind to adults and children alike, the Dalmatian is an extremely loyal breed of dog and will do all it can to please and humour its owner and their family.
