The history of the Caucasian Ovtcharka Mountain Dog can be traced for at least six hundred years. The main reason why these Dogs have accompanied humans for such a long time is basically to help with the herding activities, protecting the sheep and also as guardian Dogs. The Caucasian Ovtcharka Mountain Dog is a large Dog: it can weight up to 154 pounds and up to 28 inches long. The shape of the body is square and the head is quite broad, standing out from the rest of the body. The entire animal (even the tail and the face) is covered with a dense and thick coat that was originally meant to protect it from the cold. Plus, this coat is also found in small spaces such as between the toes. It is normally found in gray, fawn, pied, brindle and white colors. The legs are really strong.
