If you are educating yourself on the Canaan Dog, then you will also want to learn about the Canaan Dog Ears. They have low set Ears that are placed in this manner to give them the expression of looking like they are always alert.
They have medium to large Ears that stand straight up. They have only an average amount of fur on their Ears. When they are excited about something their Ears turn to face a forward position making it obvious to you that they are excited.
As with any Dog, you will still want to check their Ears about once a week. Simply look inside of their Ears and make sure that nothing foreign has made its way into the ear. A sticker or a burr that works its way down into your Dog's Ears can cause major problems for your Dog. You will also want to watch them for any shaking of their head, walking with their head sideways, or scratching at their Ears. If you notice any of these behaviors then you should have them looked at by a veterinarian to rule out an ear infection.
