Due to the breed's lightly feathered, single coat, Brittany Grooming is a task that requires little experience in dog Grooming, as long as the groomer is careful and considerate throughout the process.
When Grooming a Brittany dog, the groomer must always ensure that they brush in the direction that the coat grows naturally and never applies excess pressure. Furthermore, some light trimming and stripping of the coat may be required, but due to the amount that is needed, little previous skill is necessary. The Brittany will enjoy the task of being groomed and it is very rare that a Brittany will become discomforted or bored during a Grooming session.
As a light shedder, daily Grooming of a Brittany isn't generally required. However, a large amount of inexperienced Brittany owners feel that due to the breed having a single coat, the dog does not need to be groomed at all. This is simply not true and although the dog may not require daily Grooming, a regular Grooming session needs to take place to remove any dead or loose hair to ensure this hair does not become matted, dirty and then inevitably infected.
