With several different sub-breeds of the general Brittany breed, there are many different Brittany coat Colors available. Although a mixed burnt orange and white coat is the most recognisable, Brittany Colors can include light brown with white and dark orange with liver and many different variations, all of which are accepted within dog show competitions.
Whilst there are several different Brittany coat color variations available, it has to be noted that if the Brittany is bred for show purposes within the United States of America, the coat cannot contain any black colorings. This is due to the fact that black colorings in any dog breeds are seen as an instant disqualification in American competitions.
To ensure that a Brittany's coat stays as beautiful and color rich as possible, a diet high in essential vitamins will provide the coat with all of the necessary oils that it needs to appear as shiny and as healthy as it possibly can. Although most high quality dog food will fulfill these needs, many Brittany owners prefer to create homemade food, consisting of fresh meat and vegetables, which is regularly considered to be the most suitable food for a Brittany dog.
