Bichon Frise Training

People not always think of Bichon Frise dogs as actually trainable dogs because they are often seen as cute dogs that don’t need any specific activity other than being adorable. This belief is quite wrong if you take into consideration that every dog breed needs training not only to behave properly but also to have a simpler and happier life. In the case of the Bichon Frise breed, it is a truly interesting case so

Bichon Frise dogs are among the most easily recognized ones due to their incredible curly and fluffy white coat. They are adorable and extremely cute little dogs that love human company and spending their time around their owners and families. They have a truly affectionate and playful attitude, but they can also be independent and somewhat stubborn if you don’t teach them to follow your orders. However, they are easily trained due to their high level of intelligence and to their predisposition to complete tasks and tricks. Finally, we should choose happiness and joy as main features of their temperaments.

Some of these characteristics have a lot to do with the training process that a Bichon Frise might need. In the first place, you need to make your Bichon Frise understand that you are his master and that he should only respect and follow your orders and not any command coming from a stranger. This is easily achieved if you daily exercise your Bichon Frise on to responding to your calls and commands and such activity should be done since the dog is actually still a puppy. Calling his name or consistently saying key commands are ways to get him used to those words and their meanings.

Firmness is also needed when training a Bichon Frise since, as we have told you, they can sometimes get to be quite independent and stubborn. These attitudes are easily corrected by giving orders that must be respected and by making your dog understand that there is a right time and a right place for everything.

Socializing your Bichon Frise with other dogs and animals is another important part of the training process, especially since these dogs love to be in company of other animals and this might be the best moment to teach him companionship and respect towards others. This way you will also avoid having a fearful or aggressive animal that does not know how to react to strangers or other animals.

As many other dog breeds, Bichon Frise dogs are actually quite intelligent and this is always a great thing to take into account when starting a training process. However, this does not mean that patience and constant exercising won’t be needed: they should be present in any training as well as love, entertainment and joy, so start teaching and training your Bichon Frise as soon as possible. You will truly enjoy it!
