Bernese Mountain Dog Behavior

The Bernese Mountain Dog is one the largest and most powerful breeds of Dog. Part of the Sennenhund breed of Dogs, Bernese Mountain Dog Behavior can be summed up in two words - confident and good natured.

As the Bernese Mountain Dog was used regularly as an outdoor, working Dog, they feel most at home when they are in an outdoor environment. Whilst they will not be unruly when kept inside, as a large Dog, they need regular exercise. However, a large, open garden will generally suffice, as long as they are allowed access to it when they require it.

In respect of the Bernese Mountain Dog's Behavior towards its owner and family, it is generally considered to be greatly admired. Loyal to their owner and therefore making a fantastic companion, they will care for young children and ensure they do not come to any harm.

A Bernese Mountain Dog will make for an ideal guard Dog - not because they have an angry temperament and are prone to attack, but because they are very wary of people who are not regular to their home.
