Cute dogs can be found in a large variety. However, few of them can be so unique and amazing as the Bedlington Terrier. This incredible breed was originally bred in England when experimental breedings wanted to achieve a new and more efficient form of gun dog that could combine agility and style. Its origins are considered to be around the mid nineteenth century and it wasn't until the decade of 1970 that this breed was officially recognized as a separate breed. They are now great companions and watchdogs. The breed counts with AKC, CKC, FCI, UKC and KCGB recognition among others.
The Bedlington Terrier is easily recognizable for its lamb-like appearance. This image is mostly given because of its curly and tight coat that is usually available in blue, white and gray tones. It covers the entire body of the animal and it was obviously meant to keep the dog warm and protected. The Bedlington Terrier features a refined and somewhat narrow body with a tucked in abdomen and a short tail. The legs are long and strong while the head is narrow and pointy. The ears are small and folded over the head. The nose is dark and large while the eyes are round and dark as well. It is important for you to properly groom your Bedlington Terrier coat and even though it sheds no hair, it is necessary for you to trim it often.
This dog is a great companion and devoted working animal. They are happy and playful as well as deeply loving and affectionate towards their masters. They are great dogs for families since they get along really well with children. However, small animals like cats or rabbits should be properly socialized with the Bedlington Terrier in order to avoid possible complications. This dog features a life expectancy of over seventeen years.
