The American Eskimo Life Expectancy is 15 to 16 years. Its size and temperament help to ensure it a long Life span. The American Eskimo is generally a healthy breed not having serious health concerns known to the breed. This also adds to their chances of living a long Life. They can get such illnesses as Urinary Tract Infections and Hip Dysplasia, although this is generally rare.
Some illnesses which can severely shorten the American Eskimos Life Expectancy are those illnesses which they can be protected from by receiving their yearly vaccinations on time. If you let your American Eskimos vaccinations lapse, they will be susceptible to a number of fatal diseases which can quickly deteriorate their health.
As with any breed, you will want to find out about the health of its parents before purchasing a puppy. You will want to steer clear of purchasing a puppy whose parents do suffer from Hip Dysplasia or ongoing UTI's. You will also want to maintain your dog's health by providing them with proper diet and exercise. If you do this, there is no reason to not expect your American Eskimo to live a very long Life.
