Alice In Wonderland Characters

Alice in Wonderland is one of the most traditional stories of the English literature, written by Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson in 1865 under the pseudonym of Lewis Carroll.

This story has grown in popularity since then as a clear representative story of a type of society devoted to high class standards and protocols that could bore children to death. In the beginnings of the twentieth century, when Walt Disney made a cinematic version of it, it definitely gained a place among children’s most favorite stories. Let us see a bit what this story was about.

The story begins when a little girl named Alicia starts to follow a lovely white rabbit that seems to be always late even though being a court clerk, to escape from a boring picnic with her family without knowing that in short she will be experiencing the most fantastic adventures she could ever imagine.

This curious and intrepid little girl enters a dream world known as Wonderland and has to deal with all the new and crazy characters that will cross her in her way. Without knowing really what to expect Alice goes through different situations such as when she goes gigantic or shrinks into a tiny human being, goes to a tea party that never ends and where she learns that in this new and crazy land the birthday is celebrated during every day of the year but the day in which the person has been born, and she is accompanied by a weird cat that creates different types of problems and then disappears only leaving his white smile on the air.

She is finally faced with a strange queen that is not very friendly and that gets Alice in trouble after a cricket game. It is believed that many characters have been inspired in political leaders and personages but this has not been officially proved. Going through subjects such as fantasy, imagination, alternate dimensions, family, friends, dangers and menaces among many others, this story has had to suffer many criticisms from people who believed it to be quite horrifying and tense for kids.

However, it is definitely one of Disney’s most famous films, even though it was a failure at the box office when released in 1951. Alice in Wonderland is a clear representative of one of the most popular Disney’s eras and has ever since been in the minds of every girl and boy that feels that imagination and fantasy is possible even in a realistic world.
